Black Dog Raft Company knows everything there is about scenic float trips in Jackson Hole and what to expect for each time of day on the Snake River. We know some folks haven’t experienced a float trip before but it’s important to be prepared for the journey, so we have Frequently Asked Questions available for review but if there is a specific question you have, feel free to call us at 307-699-4110 or 800-872-1885 and we can get your questions answered. Black Dog is a family-friendly event whether you are on vacation or just wanting to float with us on your weekend off, we also cater to private group rafting trips too!

Wear comfortable outdoor clothing. We suggest dressing in layers as it is usually cool in the mornings in the mountains but then warms up as the day progresses. A t-shirt layered with a sweatshirt or light jacket works well. Fleece blankets are also provided for the cool mornings. We try our best to keep your feet dry, but it’s best to wear shoes that you won’t mind getting wet. See more great suggestions on what to wear here.

Bring sunscreen, a baseball cap or sun hat, sunglasses and a camera with a secure strap. See more great suggestions on what to bring here.

Yes, there are no whitewater rapids in this section of the river. The river runs swiftly in some areas and slowly in others providing a safe and pleasant experience for young children as well as grandma and grandpa.
-
We are “kid friendly” and love kids on our float trips. The minimum age on this stretch of the river is 4 but the child must weigh at least 35 pounds for the life jacket to fit properly. Also, you know your child and small children must be able to sit relatively still for 2 hours.
Please call us if you have any questions. -
We will pick you up at your hotel in the town Jackson or if you prefer we will meet you at the Home Ranch Town parking lot at the corner of Gill and North Cache Street or the Village Road Transit Center in Wilson. At the end of the trip, we will return you to your point of pickup.
For pickups outside the town of Jackson, we offer our VIP Float Trip that allows us to include additional drive time. We do not pickup in Teton Valley, ID or in the northern part of Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Parks.
Plan on 3 hours for your trip—about 2 hours on the river plus travel time to the river and back.
